A Tristar horsebox can be built onto your own chassis or we can provide one for you. Every chassis supplied by us has been carefully chosen and is presented in the following condition:-
· Cab re-sprayed
· Chassis pressure-washed, cleaned and two coats of chassis black applied
· Service carried out including oil and filter changes
· 12 months test certificate
· Cab cleaned and valeted
· 6 months warranty to cover engine, gearbox and axles
The various makes all have their pros and cons, and people tend to have their favourites. If we supply a chassis for you our main priority is the condition of the chassis/cab and how well it has been maintained in its previous life. A lorry is designed to do high mileage on a daily basis and the extra mileage likely to be added when it becomes a horsebox is, comparatively speaking, minimal. Therefore the reading on the odometer is usually irrelevant and can be misleading as the tachograph itself may have been changed.
Our designs and the quality of the materials used gives our containers their inherent strength. We consider a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of at least 5 tonnes is needs for two horses and 7.49 tonnes for three or more. We recommend that a horsebox with a living area should carry no more than three average horses or for small ponies if operating on a non-HGV chassis. Naturally we are able to build onto the HGV chassis if the carrying capacity required becomes larger.
